An implementation design of broadband and high resolution spectrum analysis based on FPGA

In this paper a spectrum analysis system is designed and realized to meet requirements in reconnaissance, capture and analysis of the broadband emitter signal. The system used FPGA as control core and ddram as data caching, and it can analyze and process broadband signals. The spectrum analysis system used variable points FFT technology to achieve requirements of high frequency resolution. It used CORDIC algorithm to calculate amplitude of the output of FFT. Then the system puts the amplitude spectrum data into ddram, after that, it will wait for making communication with the host computer. The design verified the feasibility of the system through the function simulation and online tests. The testing result shows that the system makes full use of the resources of FPGA, it has some features such as broadband, high resolution, adjustable frequency spectrum analysis wideband.
