Three stage control of SCIG for distributed power generation

In this paper a novel three stage control for squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) fed to standalone system through back to back converter is presented. In the proposed technique dc bus voltage controller is implemented to regulate the output voltage of the stand alone system. The voltage controller is generating the speed command of the speed controller followed by inner current controller. The main goal of this topology is to maintain the dc bus voltage, irrespective of step change in input torque and load power. This converter uses vector control of induction generator to achieve good dynamic response. Load side converter is producing output voltage with simple pulse width modulation (PWM) technique. Simulation results are presented to show the performance of proposed controllers.
