Hexagonal shaped core dodecagonal PCF with high birefringence and nonlinear coefficient

A different photonic crystal fiber of dodecagonal design has been proposed in this paper. Here the PCF provides at a time dispersion value of -396.9 ps/(nm.km), high birefringence of 2.05×10^-2. Moreover we have found nonlinear coefficient of 39.02 W^-1km^-1 which is large value. All these values are measured at the operating wavelength 1.55 μm. Our PCF gives large negative dispersion coefficient from -198 ps/(nm.km) to -419.1 ps/(nm.km) for fast axis and from -160.6 ps/(nm.km) to -504.2 ps/(nm.km) for slow axis over 1520 nm to 1700 nm range which obviously covers C, L and U band. Besides, confinement loss has also been studied for both five rings and eight rings. Finite Element Method has been used for our simulation. This suggested photonic crystal fiber may be widely useful in polarization sensitive applications.
