Analyzes of high harmonics generation and power losses of low power consumers within 1000 V networks

One of the most important features of up-to-date technical progress in power engineering is a continuous increase of so called non-linear load sources. Such loads in electrical networks result in high harmonics generation, which causes a number of negative effects in functioning electrical network equipment. The valve inverter and regulating devices are the most widely used among non-linear load sources. These devices operate at 380/220 V. This paper is aimed at analyzing high harmonics currents consumed by modern widely used non-linear electrical devices (TVs, computers, washing machines etc.). Nowadays, there exists a great variety of such devices, which are constantly upgrading. Such a tendency is typical of any power supply systems, for example industrial, urban, rural ones and others. The paper also analyzes operation mode of the induction motor equipped with ACS 550 frequency converter too. If a larger number of such devices is used, it is necessary to limit high harmonics current and voltage in 380/220 V networks according to standard values.
