Development of population monitoring system for events in a large park

It is important to manage the number of visitors in order to improve the event quality and to keep visitors' safety in a big event held in a large park. On the other hand, a low-cost doppler sensor becomes available these days to detect approaching and distancing of humans. Therefore, we propose a population monitoring system for events in a large area utilizing the doppler sensor. An administrator of a park and events can know the number of visitors in real time. An experimental measurement was performed at Echigo Hillside National Government Park in Nagaoka city, Niigata. It has been shown that population has been clearly measured by our proposed system. In future works, we will analyze the relationship between population and events.
