Memristors act as synapses in neuromorphic architectures

Nano-scale memristors are useful for future neuromorphic computations, because they have high integration capability to incorporate a large number of memristor-base synapses and few bit memory capacity in its own. In this paper, the working principle of memristor based-synapses which act as mimic of biological neural synapses is discussed. Finally 3-neuron BAM memristor based synaptic circuit diagram with small-world connections is proposed here. This architecture is combined with active load circuit and output of synapses which are summed in current mode.
