Currents' physical component (CPC) power theory for three-phase four-wire systems

The Currents' Physical Component (CPC) theory defines powers associated with distinctive physical phenomena and provides fundamentals for a design of reactive power compensators in single-phase and three-phase three-wire power systems under non-sinusoidal conditions. This paper presents the application of the CPC power theory to three-phase four-wire power systems. Respecting the principles of German standard (DIN), the application of the CPC power theory to three-phase four-wire systems is based on virtual star point as voltage reference, in order to have the sum of the voltages equal to zero. This eliminates errors caused by having the contribution of zero-sequence voltages in power definitions. The simulation results confirm the validity and applicability of the CPC power theory to three-phase four-wire power systems for a variety of loads.
