A dynamic stability and security assessment study for the interconnection of crete with the Hellenic mainland system via a 150KV/AC network

This paper investigates the dynamic stability and security of the power system of Crete after its planned interconnection with the Hellenic mainland system via a double circuit 150kV/AC link. The study aims to define link maximum transfer capacity (TC), under varying operating conditions, without risk of system dynamic security. The results indicate that the interconnection does not threaten the dynamic security of the system of Crete, facilitates further RES penetration and minimizes the need for load shedding in case of major disturbances.
