Arrangement of Fibonacci sequence photovoltaic modules for power generation forest

As a method of increasing electric power generation in a size-limited installation area, photovoltaic (PV) modules assembled with a three-dimensional (3D) structure that is based on the Fibonacci sequence (hereafter referred to as FPMs) have proven effective. Since the power generation of a 1/3 phyllotaxis, two-stage FPM exceeds that of a planar module, it may be possible to construct mega-solar sized power generation forests using multiple FPMs. In this study, the shadowing effect of adjacent FPMs on power generation in a power generation forest was investigated and comparisons were made in the amount of power generation per installation area for various FPM arrangement patterns, and a particular honeycomb structure was identified as having the highest value.
