Synthesis of Bi2WO6-RGO nanocomposite for photocatalytic application

Synthesisof Bismuth Tungstate - Reduced GrapheneOxide composite (Bi2WO6-RGO) was done in two steps that includes the synthesis of graphene oxide by Hummer's method and Bi2WO6-RGO composite by solvothermal process. Samples were characterized by TEM, XRD, EDX, FT-IR, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm (BET) and thermal analysis. Photocatalytic studies showed that the hetero architectures of Bi2WO6-RGO exhibited higher catalytic activity than bare Bi2WO6 under visible light irradiation for the degradation of Rhodamine B. The photocatalytic activity of Bi2WO6-RGO system was found more stable during recycling. The stability of the composite increased due to the effective interaction between Bi2WO6 and RGO in the present methodology.
