Synchronous Buck DC-DC converter for ultrawide input-voltage range

A power supply module using synchronous Buck circuit for ultrawide input-voltage range is proposed in this paper. In some renewable energy utilizations such as photovoltaic and geothermal power generation. The DC bus voltage of generator is substantial jump occasionally. A DC-DC power supply module which can work in the circumstance of ultra-wide input voltage range is developed, and output of module is characterized with low voltage and high current. Synchronous rectification is used in the main circuit, Quasi-resonant (QR) Zero Voltage Switching at switch turn-on (ZVS) mode is used in the auxiliary power supply circuit. Small signal AC model is established, active lead-lag compensation network is designed. A prototype with ultrawide input voltage range of 28–190V (1∶6.5), 24V/13A output, and rated power of 312W is fabricated to verify the effectiveness of the design and control method. The highest efficiency attainted is 95.1%, power density is 800W/kg.
