Design and implementation of data gateway communication protocol based on XML

Energy consumption data management center requires the gateway device to collect lots of energy data come from energy meters. However, these meters use different communication protocols other than TCP/IP protocol, so it can not be transmit these energy data across these energy data across TCP/IP networks. This problem is usually resolved by a data gateway in the energy management system. But the communication protocol design is not easy for the data gateway development. To solve this problem, an XML based communication protocol method is proposed in this paper. The reason is that XML has good features, such as platform-independent, readability and scalability. Finally, the upload data packet is taken as an example to introduce the specific implementation.
