Power distribution system reconfiguration based on genetic algorithm

The power distribution system reconfiguration problem is a complicated optimization problem of power system. Whth the achievement of the distribution system reconfiguration, the power loss can be reduced, the load of the system can be balanced, and the reliability of the system can also be improved, etc. An improved genetic algorithm applied to the DSR problem with minimal power losses is presented in this paper. The target of the algorithm is to ascertain the status of all switches in the system to acquire the final optimum value. Using a representative power distribution system configuration as an example, and the test result obtained from the 33-node system configuration shows the availability of the method.
