Model of a microwave oven with focalizing antennas

In this paper we study the mathematical modelling of a domestic microwave oven with incorporated metallic bars. These bars act like antennas. They are powered by the microwave energy that excites the oven and transmit the energy to the surface of the lossy load (see figure 1). The calculation of the field inside the cavity and of the external characteristics of the cavity as seen by the source guide starts with Maxwell's equations and was curried out by simultaneously using the Finite Element Method (F.E.M.) and integral field equations. The goal of this type of oven is to concentrate the maximum amount of energy into the load in order to use the oven to its best advantage. In our study, we have considered that the metal bars are perfect conductors; the choice of their positions is vary important, so as to keep the coefficient of reflection as low as possible.
