Vehicle routing optimization of urban distribution with self-pick-up lockers

With the explosive development of E-commerce in China, an efficient accurate package distribution is badly needed, causing urban distribution Last Mile Problem. Under the circumstance of worse traffic congestion and environment pollutions in today's cities, not only accuracy and speed, but also alleviation of traffic congestion, air pollutions are highly required while solving Last Mile Problem. Self-pick-up locker has been tried to reach these requirements in recent years. Nevertheless, how to optimize the delivery vehicle routing with self-pick-up locker and then saving distribution cost of express enterprises is important for the popularization of self-pick-up locker remained to be seen. Based on above, a vehicle routing optimization model with self-pick-up lockers is set up, considering CO₂ emission, customer time window and congestion. Then the case of Mingguangcun, Beijing is brought into the model to reach a solution. What's been found in this paper should be helpful for express enterprises to promote the use of self-pick-up lockers.
