An overview of solar energy policy of India and few prominent nations in the world

This paper examines solar energy policy of India as has been adopted by the central government against the policies adopted by those countries of the world who have already assumed a leading position in solar PV generation. The paper initially investigates trends in capacity addition in these countries. Further the pace of capacity growth of India in recent past is ascertained. The drivers in the policies which can be attributed to the success of various nations in achieving substantial generation are studied. The appropriate conclusion is drawn with regard to effectiveness of some of the policy components which are responsible for significant push to the solar PV growth.
