High voltage low current LED driver with high efficiency and low THD for streetlight

This paper presents a quasi-resonant mode (QR) based power factor correction (PFC) using single stage single switch for light emitting diode (LED) driver. The application is targeted for LED street lighting. It is capable to drive LED of 97-112VDC of 700mA in constant current mode. The total system power rating is 80W for LED lighting module. The commercial LED driver, HVLED001 is used for driving the LED. The prototype of this LED driver is experimentally verified. The power quality parameters are well within acceptable range for entire line cycle (110- 300VAC) based on new LED lighting regulation. The achieved system efficiency and current regulation for entire line cycle are 92% and 2-3% respectively, which is quite acceptable for existing power LED in market.
