Effects of the residential photovoltaic systems and load following energy storage systems applications to the load profile and cost of energy consumption

Photovoltaic systems are one of the most widely used renewable energy source today. Technologic developments provide them to be more economic and widespread. Photovoltaic systems are connected the distribution systems as solar power plants whereas they can be connected at low voltage level. Although there are various disadvantages such as grid connection challenges, the users are encouraged to produce own electricity to decrease the tension of the grid and peak loads. Therefore, governments guarantee to purchase produced extra electricity as incentive policies. In this study, load profile of a house is carried out using physical model of the electrical home devices. Photovoltaic system and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are connected to house and ESS charged/discharged with loadfollowing method. Simulation is run for the whole the year of 2015. Technical and economic benefits of residential photovoltaic with ESS are presented.
