Proximity-coupled patch antenna with dielectric loading

This paper presents an air dielectric microstrip patch, fed with a proximity-coupled microstrip line. A high permittivity dielectric block was placed at the end of the microstrip line to improve the impedance match to the patch. Preliminary results from the prototype show the 10 dB impedance bandwidth to be 20% with a stable gain curve throughout the bandwidth.
