Method of determining the relationship between audio/video QoE and route availability in a MANET

There is a growing interest in using a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) as a means of communication when existing networks are disrupted by a disaster. A problem with using a MANET is that its communication quality is degraded by intermittent disconnections of its routes. The network's communication quality can be enhanced by controlling its route availability (RA). However, since the qualitative relationship between the quality of experience (QoE) and RA is still unclear, how effective RA control is in enhancing QoE has not been confirmed. We have developed a tool that simulates intermittent connections/disconnections of a MANET, and have derived the relationship between QoE and RA from subjective quality assessment (MOS values) of audio/video communication quality.
