The study on current control techniques on ARP for elevator system

The current control techniques on ARP (Auxiliary Rescue Power) for elevator system are presented in this paper. The purpose of this system is to assure the safety of the passengers by using electric power stored in a battery during power outage. The conventional current controller used in converter and inverter are Proportional-Integral control and dead-beat control which require complex coordinate conversion and matrix calculations. Additionally, they have problem of phase-delay. In order to overcome these problems, the simple current controllers based on valley and average current control technique are presented in the paper. These control methods have an effect of dead-beat control and prevents the phase-delay due to simple calculation with no integrator. The control methods are applied to the bi-directional converter and single/3-phase inverter. The mathematical equations are developed and verified by the computer simulation using PowerSim software.
