Design considerations for an autonomous standby power system

Failures of the standby power systems in many applications are well documented and it can lead to premature system shutdown leading to lengthy delays in industrial applications or in Railway applications endangering lives. After such incidents the failures are typically attributed to either poor maintenance or in a lot of cases the design errors. This article explore the latter and highlights the areas to look out for as potential source of field failure.
