Two-tap digital pre-emphasis for low-bandwidth 112 Gbps, PAM-4 transmissions

We experimentally demonstrate a PAM-4 transmission at a bit rate of 112 Gbps using low-bandwidth components. By employing a 2-tap pre-emphasis filter we are able to lower the BER floor below 10^-6 and to reduce the DSP complexity.
