Visibility enhancement for remote surveillance system

An atmospheric conditions like fog as well as haze considerably degrades image quality in outdoor surveillances. Therefore in such a challenging environment it's become a need to have reliable dehazing technique which enhance the visibility of hazy images. In this, processing white balanced images is derived from original hazy image to retain natural rendition of images by discarding color cast that are caused by atmospheric color. To preserve the region with good visibility, important features are extracted by computing salient feature extraction map & foreground region preservation map and then enhance visibility in hazy regions by subtracting average luminance from original hazy image then contrast enhancing approach CLAHE(block based contrast enhancement) is used to enhance the local contrast of the image.
