Flexible coupling dynamic analysis as a ship shafting part

The aim of the work is to complete ship shafting flexible coupling design analysis to torsional vibration impact. The goal is based on the finite element modeling modern packages use, in particular, Siemens NX, to determine: a) shafting resonant frequency; b) shafting transfer characteristics; c) maximum stress and strain on the shafting elements to resonant frequencies. As a result of the carried out studies the ship shafting torsional oscillations with flexible coupling were analyzed, and as a result its own torsional frequency, amplitude-frequency characteristics and the transmission ratio and voltage waveforms in the ship shafting elements at critical frequencies were defined. These results suggest that the modern software finite element analysis use allows accelerating significantly sufficient problem solving accuracy degree.
