Dynamic Temporal Policy Model for Online Social Networks

Nowadays, online social network are becoming more, more an integral part of our daily life. Users often spend a large amount of time in their profile, updating their status, interacting with other members of the network, hence a massive amount of content are posted over years by users which may include sensitive information are still available online which raises new challenges to data privacy. Specifying who can view data shared in online social network becomes a serious concern for average users. One of the main causes of the problem is due to the limited expressivity of the provided access control mechanisms that do not enable users to define the temporal context under which their shared data should be accessed. To address these limitations, we suggest using temporal non-monotonic description logic based system TL-JClassic

as formalism for representing, reasoning about dynamic temporal context based access control policies. The main features of our model is that, it allows to associate temporal constraints with each data shared in social network as well as enable data owner's to make some exception for certain rules by allowing some users to get the right to access some data while they would not be allowed to access by default,, therefore the access control decision will be dynamic, depending on the context when the request is made.
