Balanced antenna structure with slotted ground plane for LTE dual-band

A printed dipole balanced antenna for mobile phone applications is studied and investigated. This antenna operates in the dual-band of LTE 700/2600MHz. The motivation towards employing a printed folded dipole arms is the reduction in antenna size coupled with wideband capabilities. Partial of the ground was defected by rectangular slot underneath the antenna element to provide the provision for a lower band of LTE 700MHz. The folded arms were printed over FR4 substrate property of relative permittivity of 4.4, dielectric loss tangent of 0.0017 and a height of 0.8 mm. The physical measurements show that the proposed design can give good performance towards the spectrum of 4G applications.
