Modes of a planar optical waveguide truncated with perfectly matched layer: Collocation method

A collocation scheme is presented to find the modes of a planar optical waveguide truncated with perfectly matched layer (PML). The method generates the eigenvalues for different modes namely guided, leaky modes and PML modes. Here, waveguide modes are studied without PML and with PML.
