Multilevel inverter real-time switching angle calculation with low gain error

A multilevel inverter with real-time switching angle calculation modulation method is proposed. This proposed inverter modulation method is able to operate in real-time mode and calculate the switching angles without complex algorithm or time consuming iterations. The active switches in this proposed inverter operates at fundamental frequency of the AC mains, resulting in lower switching losses. The proposed modulation method has been verified via simulation studies using MATLAB and PSIM. The simulation results show that the proposed modulation method is capable of supplying AC voltages with acceptable total harmonic distortion (THD) in both equal and non-equal cascaded DC voltage sources.
