A study on the application of quantum dots film in COB

In recent years, application of quantum dots (QDs) have attracted intensive interest owing to their outstanding photoluminescence properties, All of these attractive characteristics make QDs candidates for the next generation back-lighting and display. However, the commercial application in lighting, especially in integrated devices is seldom reported. In this work, we used QDs film in chip on board (COB) as color converter, and compared the performance with traditional phosphor. Results revealed that though many advantages, a lot of problems required to be overcome for QDs film, such as thermal stability, process control, luminous efficacy (LE), spectral distribution, color rendering index (CRI) and so on.
