Application of neuromuscular electric stimulation for elimination of the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome

This paper establishes grounds for the necessity to search alternative active methods of affection aimed at elimination of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) episodes. For that, the method of electric neurostimulation based on interferential currents was chosen. The authors performed theoretical development of the method, determined principle characteristics of actuating signals, and also found points of electrodes application in accordance with the human's anatomy. In addition, on the base of established parameters, the authors designed and manufactured a device, which can provide such affection. As it is supposed, the developed technology will make it possible to effectively eliminate the apnoeic episodes of a human during sleeping without a necessity of wakening.
