Research on electric contact calculation and its heat of 500kV transmission line clamps

In order to solve power failure caused by high operating temperature, resulting in clamp breakdown on 500kV transmission line, a simplified electric contact calculated model is established to calculate the contact resistance, and a finite element model of clamp electric contact is established in ANSYS. The relation of the maximum temperature of clamp and contact pressure is analyzed, and the temperature variation from internal to external of electric contact is researched. Research shows that with contact pressure increasing, the maximum temperature first rapidly decreases and then its reduced rate slows down. The maximum temperature is firstly on the electric contact of aluminum plate and bolt, then is between the aluminum plates, and finally is also between aluminum plate and bolt. Internal and external of electric contact exist an obvious temperature difference, thus it is unreasonable that external temperature characterizes operating temperature. Finally, the correctness of calculation and simulation are verified by experiments.
