Identification of flight safety zones for unmanned aerial systems using geo-fencing data provided by prebuilt maps

This study aims to create a universal safety precaution system for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs). Current restrictions for UAS flight involve the prohibition of flying into certain zones, airspaces, and altitudes. Using data from prebuilt maps such as openstreetmap, UASs will be able relate its own position, with a GPS, to any restricted airspaces in the area. The UAS can then be programmed to react accordingly without any risk of human error or misjudgment. This system will have the potential to creating a safer environment with the ever growing market of the UAS industry, placing more trust in UAS pilots and loosening strict UAS restrictions.
