Cyber physical renewable energy microgrid: A novel approach to make the power system reliable, resilient and secure

Recent advancement in the field of electrical technology and cyber system (mainly based on the internet) has brought the key towards accepting and challenging all the issues regarding load management, demand side management, energy management, and efficient allocation of energy, transparency and ease of use of data management and security. This research paper focuses on a Cyber Physical Power System (CPPS), which deals with a Microgrid involving several distributed energy resources that is concerned with controlling the sources and loads by making a proper management between supply and demand, security, robustness and resiliency. A cloud-based centralized control system has also been introduced that provides the infrastructure to offload the heavy computational tasks to be completed by VM, which results in flexibility, predictability and mobility of the system. This research study focuses an ongoing project of Lamar Renewable Energy Microgrid Lab.
