A Lyapunov based controller for boost converter to integrate solar photovoltaic source

This paper proposes a Lyapunov based controller to regulate the duty cycle of the boost converter, generally used to integrate a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System to the AC network. The proposed method is a direct method which does not require measurement of the inductor current in boost converter. The controller is designed based on the large signal model of the boost converter. This design also considers the nonlinearity of the converter. The gain values of the controller are evaluated by the Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) technique. The proposed controller has been tested on a system, simulated in Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) environment to examine the steady state and transient response of the converter. Further, the performance of the proposed controller during the transient period has been compared with a conventional Proportional-Integral (PI) controller.
