Design and Optimization of Switched Reluctance Motor for Propulsion System of Small Electric Vehicle

In this paper, the design strategy of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) is proposed for the propulsion system of the small electric vehicle (EVs), and the multi-objective optimization method of the switched reluctance drive is studied, as SRM has the features of high efficiency, high power density and high reliability. First the design strategy of SRM for the EVs is discussed. Then the procedure of the multi objective optimization for SRM is presented based on the adjusted Taguchi method. Last the simulation results have verified the correctness of the design and optimization methods, and the speed fluctuation is investigated.
