Microwave plasmonics: A novel platform for RF photonics

Plasmonic organic hybrid modulators ecently demonstrated ultrafast operation (>100 GHz), with ultra-compact footprints (10s μm²) and ultra-low power consumption (10s fJ/bit). We discuss the potential of the plasmonic platform for microwave photonics applications, with emphasis on mm-wave and sub-THz wireless communications and signal processing.
