Evaluation of the effect of the zero and negative sequence components on the current and temperature of a three phase induction motor

Although the ratio between the zero and positive sequence components is mentioned in some standards which deal with power quality, its use is not required when quantifying the voltage unbalance in major normative documents. This reason leads to the idea of developing this work, which aims to present the results of an evaluation of the influence of the unbalances of zero and negative sequences on the temperature and current of a three-phase induction motor (TIM). Initially, the strategies, methodology and experimental apparatus used in obtaining the data in the laboratory are displayed. Then through graphical analysis, the combined effect of the aforementioned components on the current and temperature of the TIM is identified next.
