Improving electromanipulation capacity of dielectrophoretic arrays based on variation of interdigitated microelectrode's geometry

Dielectrophoresis has been proven to be a reliable method for nanoparticles manipulation and trapping at the level of interdigitated microelectrode (IDE) or as a tool to filter and characterize different nanoparticles. Within the herein paper the authors are discussing in detail the role played by the electric field gradient as a key aspect regarding the dielectrophoretic force required to trap nanoparticles. Moreover, the authors are focusing on a feasible method of manufacturing interdigitated microelectrodes that offer the possibility of fast development for laboratory grade studies and for enhancing the electrical field gradient by varying the microelectrodes' geometry and shape.
