Novel wideband circular patch antenna

In order to overcome the narrow bandwidth of the ordinary patch antennas, a novel configuration of patch antenna which can widen the bandwidth of patch antenna significantly is discussed in this paper. In terms of the analytical results based on the equivalent circuit method and the HFSS software, a rule derived from the simulation results that can contribute to design patch antennas is presented. The simulation results show good agreement with the analytic results via equivalent circuit method. Finally, the structure parameters are optimized out, and the presented novel patch antenna reaches to a bandwidth of 44.67% under the optimum condition.
