Manufacturing technique of SFF transceiver

In the growing optical communication industry, one of the hottest segments is the emergence of small form factor (SFF) optical systems. Under high port density, low cost and utilities, it has an attractive feature and is expected to be the future standard and strong driving force for additional growth not only in data communication but also the telecommunication industry. Now several types of SFF connectors have been introduced. The emergence of the transceiver plays another important role so that SFF could be widely accepted into the market. The other thing to be considered is the interoperability. As was the case for SC duplex connector, which is the current industry de-facto standard, we learned that it is quite important to determine common electric interfaces like pin assignment and its definition as well as physical size; so called "common footprint". From this viewpoint, several transceiver companies have reached agreement and signed up to the mutual MSA (multisource agreement) regardless of which SFF connector was chosen.
