A novel design and realization of microstrip lumped-like amplitude equalizer

A novel microstrip lumped-like amplitude equalizer is presented in this paper for broadband microwave circuits. First the conventional lumped parameter and microstrip distributed amplitude equalizer is analyzed. Then a microstrip lumped-like amplitude equalizer is proposed. This novel equalizer has the advantages of these two conventional ones, such as small size, low cost and high yield, and avoids the disadvantages of them. It has a wider applicable frequency band. An equalizer for 2∼3GHz is designed and fabricated based on the new model. The measured results show that it has a different attenuation of ca. 5dB, and the input and output SWR is better than 1.3. This novel amplitude equalizer is suitable for broadband microwave circuit.
