Analysis and design of compact multiband patch antenna for wireless application

A compact patch antenna has been designed. Simulated version of this antenna can achieve multiband performance to simultaneously cover 0.82 GHz, 1.60 GHz, 2.0 GHz, 3.3 GHz and 4.0 GHz frequencies, whereas it practically fabricated version can achieve tri-band performance to operate at 1.60GHz, 2.0GHz and 3.3GHz. Results of this fabricated sample are in good agreement with simulated version. The antenna is of low profile, conformable to planar surfaces, simple and inexpensive to manufacture using modern printed-circuit technology. Possible applications of this antenna includes, but are not limited to global system for mobile communication, global positioning system, radar, global navigation satellite systems and worldwide interoperability for microwave access.
