Gas breakdown by a focused CW 263 GHz beam

Experimental investigation of a gas breakdown by focused microwave beam was performed. Continuous wave 263 GHz radiation with power up to 1 kW produced by gyrotron was used in the experiments. The parameter range of the existence of the breakdown in argon was determined. The experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical calculations.
