Multi-objective optimal integration of biorefineries using NSGA-II and MOGWO

Biorefineries convert biomass from a wide variety of easily available feedstock to a potentially wide range of products (including biofuels) in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. In this work, we consider the integration of a biorefinery to consume the biomass produced from a kraft pulp and paper plant and maximize its economic performance while minimizing the environmental impact. These objectives are often conflicting in nature, hence can be formulated into a multi-objective optimization problem. We propose special strategies to handle the resulting combinatorial problem. In this work, the well-established Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm - II as well as the newly develop Multi-Objective Grey Wolf Optimizer are employed and their performances are evaluated.
