Modeling of household electricity load profiles for distribution grid planning and operation

In this paper, a Markov chain based model to generate household electricity power time series for the purpose of distribution grid planning is presented and evaluated. Based on statistical data, the equipment of each single household as well as the time depended behavior of each single appliance within a 15-minute resolution is simulated. Thereby, the households' equipment is based on the household structure and the behavior of each appliance is depended on the season, day and time. Because of its modular framework, additional appliances like heat pumps or storages can be easily added according to the research requirements. To validate the model, the cumulated load profile of 10.000 simulated average household is compared with the German SLP H0 load profile. In addition, the average energy consumption per appliance class and year for the simulated households is compared with the corresponding statistically values of Germany. The deviations are minor.
