Study on bypass overflow characteristic of turbopump pressure regulating system

Bypass valve is a common pressure protector in adjustable pressurization system. Its characteristic parameters directly influence the operating pressure and operation safety of such system. By AMESim system simulation platform, the paper establishes a model for turbopump and its pressure regulating system, makes characteristic description of key components in the system, studies and analyzes the influence of physical parameter, adjustable degree of opening and other characteristic parameters of bypass valve on turbopump output characteristic, system pressure and flow. The findings show that bypass valve, in the case of turbine speed regulating failure, can effectively drop system pressure, reduce turbopump speed and control system flow, and its parameter regulating capacity intensifies with the increase of diameter of bypass valve. The study provides reference for other aircraft fuel bypass valve design and system safety design.
