Circuit modeling of nonlocal bounded wire-medium structures

A circuit model is presented for nonlocal wire-medium (WM) structures with a new type of local permittivity (thickness dependent permittivity). This local permittivity is derived in closed form for bounded wire-medium structures with electrically short wires that takes into account spatial dispersion (as an average per length of the wires) and the effect of the boundary. The results are obtained in terms of the transmission/reflection response of the two-sided WM topologies which possess strong spatial dispersion, demonstrating good agreement with nonlocal homogenization model results.
