Analysis of a conventional fixed speed induction generator based wind farm

This paper presents the simulation analysis of a Fixed Speed Induction Generator based Wind Farm. The research work presents the Power Flow analysis under steady state, Short Circuit analysis which includes 3-Phase Fault and Single L-G Fault, Harmonic analysis and its mitigation by implementation of Harmonic Filter. In Power system, before the actual implementation of the Machines a simulation study has to be performed. This is done to understand the performance under various conditions and take necessary measures if needed, the same process is being adopted here before actually commissioning the Machines on site. The simulation was carried on a 29.4 MW capacity Wind Farm, which has 14 WTG's (Wind Turbine Generators) of 2.1 MW each. An effort has been made to compare most of the results obtained with the theoretical results. The simulation performed in the ETAP (Electrical Transient Analyser Program) software was as per the Indian Grid Codes.
