Optimal charging/discharging scheme of battery storage systems in active distribution network

Battery storage systems (BSSs) have been used to participate in day-ahead scheduling of active distribution network (ADN). BSSs play significant roles in improving the efficiency of distributed generations (DG) utilization and economy of ADN operation. In this paper, a new optimal charging/discharging scheme of BSSs is proposed in ADN with DGs. Both time-of-use (TOU) price and the price difference between sale and purchase are considered to realize the cost minimization of ADN. Meanwhile, the constraint about switching times of BSS charging and discharging are involved in this model to avoid the increase of the operation costs considering the service lives of BSSs. The branch and bound-interior point method is adopted to solve this nonlinear, dynamic and mixed-integer programming problem. The branch and bound method is used to handle the discrete variables and inter-temporal constraints and the primal dual interior point method is used to solve the nonlinear programming sub-problems with only continuous variables. Numerical tests with the modified IEEE 33-bus system with wind generators and BSSs demonstrate that the proposed model and method are effective.
